Tour Travel - Tour de France after Stage 12

Stage 12 Results and Stage 13 Race Day Planning

Now that was a sprint!

Man versus man to the line and Kittel took the win. Perfect. The accident before the finish inside 3km gives all riders the same time for the day. A very happy and fearless Veelers gave the lead out to Kittel, although Kittel actually grabbed a different wheel at the end. The outcome was good with Kittel clearly displaying his greater speed at the end. He is one strong sprinter and his hard work has paid off.

Sprint wins to date in the 2013 Tour de France:
Kittel - 3
Cavendish - 1
Greipel - 1
Sagan - 1

TRAVEL & INTEREST

Today I have prepared a history and experience piece on "The Missing Years," the reason we are celebrating the 100th Tour de France this year. The piece also shares my experience in riding La Randonnee du Centenaire in 2003 to celebrate what was the 100th year of the Tour de France.

STAGE 13 RACE DAY PLANNING

Stage 13   Friday, July 12th    Tours - Saint-Amand-Montrond  173km

Sagan, Cavendish, Kittel, or Greipel will sprint for the win in Saint-Amans-Montrond as they did yesterday. Friday is the perfect day to meet friends for an early morning ride and then check in on the race in the last 3km or to watch highlights. Maybe go buy a bottle of that Sancerre wine that Paul Sherwen mentioned today during broadcast, his favorite wine of the many appellations in Loire. Certainly a nice day to have a leisurely lunch or to get some work done because the race heads into Lyon on Saturday (big tourist day) and then on Sunday we are going to spend quite a bit of time riding and/or watching the climb up Mont Ventoux!

I am hoping Peter Sagan takes the stage tomorrow.
